Oh, how I've been waiting to blog this session! I've posted some sneak peeks on the Facebook page but because the bride and I are extremely close and share hundreds of the same friends on Facebook, I wanted to give her the opportunity to share her images with the world first.
I met Leanna in high school and we immediately hit it off. She has such a goofy sense of humor and an infectious personality and we just clicked. It's easy to love her so it's no surprise that her husband was drawn to her. I've watched Leanna wait patiently and pray for God to send her the perfect husband and I've seen Him work in her life throughout the years. Her faith is unwavering, which is another reason I love her so much. She's unashamed of who she is and what her values are which is so honorable; especially in this day and time.
It's hard to believe when looking at these images but our day didn't go "quite" as planned. What was a slim chance of rain turned into a torrential downpour around fifteen minutes before we were to make our hour commute to Tryon Palace; a location that had been rented out, specifically for us, for the day. In addition, we were only about three weeks out from the big day, so it made for a very eventful, "What do we do?!" panic moment.
But, with a little encouragement from the event coordinator up at Tryon Palace, we started out on our trip, chugging through the pouring rain.
Leanna and her mama were such good sports as we talked through our worst case scenarios. We had to have a Plan B, just in case. But, the Lord saw fit to part the skies and give us a little clarity as we arrived at the palace. We had spurts of rain and no sunshine but we photographers happen to love overcast skies, so it made for some gorgeous photos.
In between our clear sky moments, we hunkered into the stables at the palace for a little shelter. And, it certainly didn't hurt for photographs! The aged brick and killer light flow made for the perfect spot. If you've never been to Tryon Palace, you must. It's a staple for any North Carolinian and if you're not North Carolina born and bred, there's even more reason to visit! It's chock full of history and the absolute perfect getaway for a Saturday afternoon with family. And, it's just lovely during this season as they gear up for Christmas. I can smell the wood burning now. Perfection.
At the end of the day, our host was kind enough to offer us exclusive entrance into one of the antiquated, historical homes that lines the street across from the palace. It was such an exciting and one of a kind moment, so we were all thrilled. He was so empathetic of our having to work around rain and was more than willing to give us a few extra moments and "compensation" for the weather. It was so kind and memorable.
It was a busy and eventful day but it was a beautiful day spending time with two of my lifelong best friends and my second mama. :) This is one of the best parts of my job; capturing milestones. But, especially milestones of those whom I love with all of my heart. Thank you so much, Leanna, for allowing me to be there for these moments and to stand beside you as a bridesmaid on your wedding day. I'm thrilled for you and Justin and wish you a lifetime of happiness and love as you serve our Savior together.
